WHO we are:
All parents in the Littleton High School community are members of PTO. Voluntary dues help PTO to support the greater LHS community.
WHAT we do:
PTO serves as a clearinghouse for information of interest to the parent community. In addition, more than a dozen committees plan, organize, and execute many annual events including:
STUDENT SOCIALS (Freshman Dance, After Prom party, and Senior
Breakfast)
FAMILY EVENTS (Dessert Bar at Novemberfest)
TEACHER APPRECIATION (monthly thank-yous and staff luncheons)
INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS (PTO and Circle of Concern Consortium)
REFRESHMENTS (for evening gatherings like Back to School Night, Academic
Awards Night, 8th Grade nights and Senior Convocation)
STUDENT DIRECTORY (a phone book for students and families)
SCHOOL MAILINGS (conference information, Back to School Night invitations, etc.)
VIPS: Volunteers in Public Schools
PTO is a thriving and hard-working parent group. In 2007-08, parent volunteers contributed more than 28,000 hours to Littleton High School.
WHEN and WHERE we meet:
The LHS PTO meets the second Wednesday of every month from 10 am to noon in the Main Office Conference Room. (Some meetings occur on district Late Start Wednesdays, but the start time is the same.) Refreshments are available beginning at 9:50 am.
Meeting dates for 2008-09 are:
September 10 January 14
October 8 February 11
November 12 March 11
December 10 April 8
May 13
Principal Don Begier and a faculty representative attend, and speak at, every meeting. Committee chairs report on activities within the LHS parent community, as do liaisons to other LHS parent groups such as ENCORE! (performing arts support group), International Baccalaureate Parent Organization (IBPO), Boosters (sports) and School Accountability Committee (SAC). Occasionally, guest speakers from the school and the community give presentations to the PTO.
